Toxic Substance Mass Torts aka Toxic Torts
Toxic torts are personal injury lawsuits brought against corporations for injuries caused by exposure to harmful chemicals through contaminated soil (farmland), groundwater, air, or chemicals in consumer products (e.g. talcum powder, weed killer). Serious, life-threatening ailments associated with toxic torts include:
- Asthma and other respiratory disorders
- Serious skin diseases
- Developmental disorders in children
- Various types of cancer caused by exposure to known carcinogens (e.g. asbestos)
- Brain or nerve damage caused by exposure to dangerous chemicals in insecticides, industrial solvents, and certain gasses
David Wool was co-counsel in the successful Bayer Monsanto Roundup litigation (Hardeman v. Monsanto). Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, has been linked to an increased risk of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, as well as lymphocytic leukemia and other cancers.
In 2019, a unanimous jury found that our client’s cancer was caused by Roundup and by Monsanto’s failure to warn of the known dangers of its product. The ruling was upheld by the Ninth Circuit in May 2021; the plaintiff was ultimately awarded $25 million.
When you become our client, you will work directly with an experienced mass torts and product liability attorney who will thoroughly assess the details of your claim, identify the parties responsible for your injuries, and explore all your legal remedies.
If you or a loved one has developed a medical condition as a result of exposure to a toxic chemical, Wool Trial Law will make your case our cause, work strategically to hold the negligent party accountable, and fight to win you just compensation.
